COVID-19 UPDATES & SPECIAL NEWS
Pastor Patricia Holcomb Joins Us
We welcome Pastor Pat who will be acting as our "CALLED" Pastor. For those not familiar with the term "Called", it refers to a Pastor meeting all the ordination, education and licensure requirements of a church denomination, which in our case is the United Chuch of Christ. Pastor Pat will handle all worship and pastoral duties and although she will be considered Part-time, we know that she will be available to all those in need. We are excited about Pastor Pat because she brings a unique perpective based on a life of teaching, professional racing (Tractor Pulling) and being a church leader. Her messages are true to what we need to hear in today's "topsy-turvy" world as we seek spiritual guidance and renewal based on the teachings of Jesus. Pastor Pat will be here each Sunday and at other times as needed. We are extremely fortunate to have her and her husband Alan with us as we move forward as a church and a church family into an unknown future.

Pastor Glenn Rice Retires
Pastor Glenn retired May 29, 2022 and is now enjoying time with his family and going forward with new adventures in life. We all thank Pastor Glenn for his time (4-years) with us and in his sharing why the Bible and its teachings are still very much a key part of our lives today.

MAY 29, 2020 CHURCH SANCTUARY READY FOR SERVICES TO RESUME SUNDAY MAY 31ST
Live church services will resume at 8:45 am and 10:45 am. The sanctuary chairs have been moved and safe distancing has been accomplished. Seating will safely accommodate approximately 80 people at any one time. The rules for attending the services are that only one entrance, the front door, will be used and everyone must wear a mask plus sanitize their hands upon entering the sanctuary. A hand sanitizing station is setup just inside the door. This first service back is also a Communion Service to commemorate Pentacost Sunday and the founding of the Christian Church. In the interest of remaining very cautious, communion will be served through the use of sealed individual servings that contain a wafer and wine. We expect that the use of these sealed servings will continue for communion services for as long as COVID-19 remains a real concern.

MAY 29, 2020 THRIFT STORE RE-OPENS
The POUCC Thrift Store reopened Tuesday may 26th and the response has been very uplifting. Under the direction of Bob Gaither and his team of volunteers we are very grateful to everyone who had donated items and made purchases. Our Thrift Store volunteers did an incredible job during the shut-down reorganizing the entire store and making it so much better for displaying things being sold. This hard work will help increase our Thrift store income and directly increase its important mission of helping people. Everyone involved needs to be congratulated for their efforts!

MAY 22, 2020 CHURCH COUNCIL VOTES TO RE-OPEN SERVICES & THRIFT STORE
The POUCC Church Council unanimously voted Friday May 22 to re-open the Thrift Store on Tuesday May 26th and to re-start sanctuary church services on May 31st Pentecost Sunday. COVID-19 precautions will be taken for each. Until further notice as a precaution while COVID-19 is still a threat, anyone entering the Thrift Store or attending indoor church services must (1) wear a facial mask and (2) sanitize both hands upon entry. These precautions are still necessary for as long as COVID-19 is still a threat. As we learn more about the COVID-19 spread between people we will be able to better follow CDC and State of Florida recommended rules for how to handle it. The Thrift Store will open with its regular hours but is short of badly needed volunteers that could limit days or times open. Pass the word that volunteers are needed. Church services will be at 8:45am and 10:45am. The attendance at each service will determine if we continue with two services or temporarily go to just one service. It is important that as many as possible people attend church on Sunday May 31st and throughout the month of June so that we can make a good decision for either two or one service. Church members and friends are urged to call the church office with questions or concerns.

MAY 8, 2020- POUCC THRIFT STORE WILL STAY CLOSED UNTIL CHURCH SERVICES BEGIN
The POUCC Church Council has decided that even though the Thrift Store is badly needed to reopen, the wiser decision is to keep it closed until live church services begin again. This is a cautious approach to protect Thrift Store volunteers as well as customers. The Council will continue to meet by phone weekly during this period.

MAY 8, 2020 - POUCC CHURCH SERVICES WILL REMAIN BY PHONE BROADCAST & WEBSITE FOR MONTH OF MAY
The POUCC Church Council held a phone conference meeting today and decided to continue the dial-in and website service broadcasts for the month of May. Even though Florida has started reopening some businesses and areas of the state, the council believes that we need more time to fully evaluate how COVID-19 is going to continue to affect our daily lives. The dial in number 386-223-1414 will remain the same for 10:30am Sunday services and will remain active for additional listening during the week. The service will also be on the church website. (Please note that the website quality is greatly better than the phone quality due to technology advances not available over regular phone lines). Please pass the word to all you that they are welcome to listen in anytime.

APRIL 16, 2020 - SUNDAY CHURCH SERVICES WILL CONTINUE TO BE BROADCAST BY PHONE UNTIL MID-MAY OR LONGER
The success and positive responses from so many listeners to the three previous audio phone church service broadcasts will continue until such time that they are no longer needed and we can resume live in-person church services. There is an abundance of caution in this decision and as soon as there is a consensus of expert opinion that we can meet while practicing good social distance discipline, we will resume services in our church. It will be great to see everyone again! In the meantime, continue to listen to One Call Now announcements, read the POUCC Newsletter and of course look at this website for the latest church information.

April 2, 2020 - POUCC CHURCH COUNCIL VOTES TO HOLD VIRTUAL CHURCH SERVICES
The POUCC Church Council has voted to conduct virtual church services throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic until it is safe for the church to begin live worship again. Research is being done to find the best ways of holding services where the most people can listen and/or watch. Keep looking for updates in the church News Letter, this church website or through messages to your phones through our One Call Now Service. (Important - make sure your phone number is correct to receive One Call announcements. If your number changes or you want to add a number, please call the church office and leave a message. June 26, 2016 NEW SENIOR PASTOR SEARCH HAS BEGUN
Senior Pastor Dr Bill Wassner leaves POUCC for new calling in Evansville, IN. In a special service of thank you and farewell, the members and friends of POUCC said goodbye to Pastor Bill and his wife Lisa. Senior Pastor for 5 yrs and four months, Dr Wassner brought a very popular message to POUCC that tied in the teachings of the Bible with present day living and challenges. We will miss both Pastor Bill and his wife Lisa but we understand the need for following a "calling" when it comes. For both the Wassners and POUCC, this will be a time of change, reflection and going forward in service, education and spiritual growth.
The process for identifying an Interim Pastor has begun followed by a search for a permanent called Senior Pastor. This process could take anywhere from six months to a couple years.
In summary, please pray for the Wassners and for POUCC, and ask that these mutual transitions will lead to new levels of spiritual growth, understanding and service to others.
